In Germany, in particular, many people are asking what the lasting impact of Germany’s military and civilian engagement over the past 20 years will be. And, questions loom regarding the future of Afghanistan.

Omid Nouripour is a German politician of the Alliance ’90/The Greens who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag since 2006. He is his parliamentary group’s spokesman on foreign affairs and is a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. He has been closely involved in Germany’s efforts in Afghanistan and has been dealing with the country for the past 15 years as a German parliamentarian.
