H.E. Boris Pistorius is the German Federal Minister of Defense, a position he has held since January 2023. In this capacity, he serves as the Commander in Chief of the armed forces in peacetime and heads the Bundeswehr administration, where he is responsible for the entire civilian staff of the Bundeswehr and the Defense Ministry. In the decade before his appointment, he was Minister for Domestic Policy and Sports in Lower Saxony. From 2006 to 2013, he was Mayor of the City of Osnabrück. He completed his military service before studying law at the University of Osnabrück and Münster.
