The Chicago Warburg Chapter, Baker McKenzie LLP, the German Consulate General in Chicago, and the Free State of Thuringia will host a discussion and luncheon with H.E. Bodo Ramelow, Minister-President of the Free State of Thuringia.

There is no charge to attend this event; however, RSVPs are required. RSVP to the German Consulate General at (312) 202-6707 or ku-100@chic.auswaertiges-amt.de.

Please note that the presentation will be in German.

Bodo Ramelow has been Minister-President of the Free State of Thuringia since December 2014. His election was historic in Germany, as he was the first Chairman of the party Die Linke (The Left) to be appointed as the leader of a federal state in Germany. His leadership as Minister-President is supported by the Social Democratic Party as well as the Green Party in a joint coalition. Born and raised in the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Ramelow moved to Thuringia after unification in 1990 and has since been a politically active resident. He acted as a trade union official (1990-1999), when he was Chairman of Handel, Banken und Versicherungen (HBV), then a member of the Thuringian Parliament (1999-2005), and leader of The Left in Thuringia (2009-2014). Between 2005 and 2009, he was a member of the German Bundestag for The Left and its deputy leader.
