The Charlotte Warburg Chapter and the North Carolina Zeitgeist Foundation will host a discussion with Annette Schavan, former German Ambassador to the Holy See/Vatican and former German Federal Minister of Education and Research.

Annette Schavan is a German politician born in Grevenbroich, near Cologne. Most of her professional and political life she spent in Baden-Württemberg, the State with most of Germany’s famous companies of the Mittelstand, the type of companies which form the backbone of Germany’s economy and which are often family-owned. In Baden-Württemberg, she was Minister for Cultural Affairs, Youth, and Sport from 1995 till 2005. From 2005 to 2014, she was a Member of the German Federal Parliament. From 2005 to 2013 she served in the cabinet of Angela Merkel as Federal Minister for Education and Research. She was German Ambassador at the Holy See / Vatican from 2014 to June of 2018. She studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the universities in Bonn and Düsseldorf. Today she lives in Ulm, Baden Württemberg.
