NYC: Germany, the United States, and the Future of Transatlantic Relations

The ACG will host a breakfast briefing with Dr. Norbert Röttgen, Member of the German Bundestag (CDU) and former Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

Dr. Norbert Röttgen is a Member of the German Bundestag for the Christian Democratic Party (CDU). Since 2014, he has been the chairman of the Bundestag’s Committee on Foreign Affairs. He became a member of parliament in 1994. From 2009 to 2012 he was Federal Minister for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. Additionally, he held the position of Deputy Chair of the CDU in Germany as well as Chair of the CDU in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2010 to 2012. From 2005 to 2009 he served as Chief Parliamentary Secretary of the CDU/CSU congressional party. Prior to this position, he was the Legal Policy Spokesman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. Preceding his first term in parliament, Dr. Röttgen studied law in Bonn from 1984 to 1993 and subsequently worked in the regional court. He attained his doctoral degree in 2001. He is a member of the Board of Atlantik-Brücke.
